· SYNONYM: prometheus Tschetverikov in Sheljuzhko, 1937.

· RANGE. NE. Turkey, the Caucasus and Transcaucasia.

· DISTRIBUTION AND VARIATION. The Caucasus Major and Minor.

· HABITAT AND BIOLOGY. Humid grassy clearings at the upper forest line, subalpine meadows at 2,000-2,800 m a.s.l. Flight period: July-August.

· SIMILAR SPECIES. E. aethiops: UPH ocelli surrounded by a continuous brownish-red band; males with an androconial area on FW; genitalia different.
